dc.descriptionMiconia curvitheca (Melastomataceae) is described and the name is validated. This species is restricted to high Andean forests and subparamos and is distributed in the southern and central part of the Central Colombian Cordillera of the Andes between 2900 and 3700 m elevation, from the department of Cauca to the limits of the departments of Quindío, Tolima and Valle del Cauca. It is characterized by the curved shape of its anthers M. cuatrecasae, by the following combination of characters: smaller leaves.en-US

Esta especie tiene unadistribución restringida a los bosques altoandinos y subpáramos del sur y centro de la cordillera Centralcolombiana entre los 2900 y 3700 m s.n.m. desde el departamento del Cauca hasta los límites de losdepartamentos de Quindío, Tolima y Valle del Cauca. Se caracteriza por la forma curva de sus tecas y la especiemás similar es M. cuatrecasae, de la que se diferencia por la combinación de caracteres de hojas de menor tamaño, ovario con cuatro lóbulos y flores siempre bisexuales. es-ES
